1925 Iowa State Census: confirmation for the name Abba. Book 191 lines 62 thru 66. Shows Celia Glick and family living at 1604 Villa Ave, Sioux City IA. The name shown for Celia's father is Abe Glick. All the children are listed and Celia's husband is shown as Ben Kaplan.

The Glicks were apparently taken care of by various family members as a search of the Sioux City directories shows the following addresses for them:

  • 1910 census shows Abraham Glick, Mary and Celia Glick living with Barney, Mary, Anna, Freda, Herman, Gertrude, Myron, and young Herman living together.
  • 1913 shows Abraham Glick and wife Mary living with Myer and Gertrude Shiloff at 814 W 8th street.
  • 1914 shows Abraham Glick and wife Mary living with Celia and Ben Kaplan at 1216 W 19th Street.
  • 1915 shows Abraham Glick living with still Celia and Ben Kaplan at 1216 W 19th Street and Mary is not shown. The absence of Mary tends to confirm the reading on her gravestone as 28 July 1914 being the date of death.
  • 1916 shows Abraham Glick still living with Celia and Ben Kaplan at 1216 W 19th Street and again Mary is not shown.
  • 1917 shows Abraham has moved back with Myer and Gertrude Shiloff at 1115 W 6th Street.
  • 1925 Iowa State Census shows Abraham living with Esther and Abe Rudin.

My cousins who knew Ed made these comments:

Anita Shapiro said she went to a month long seminar for journalism students in the summer of 1958 in Evanston Illinois. Ed lived in Chicago, picked her up at the airport took her to a restaurant and got her settled at the university. He picked her up when she was ready to return home and took her to the airport. She says he was a very nice person and her mother said nice things about him.

Jean Slutsky said Ed was her favorite cousin. He came to see them in Sioux City from Chicago and brought treats. "He was kind and generous. He had the first air conditioned car I had ever seen."
